Thermodynamic Temperature Measurements

To implement the new kelvin, the thermodynamic temperature measurements based on the acoustic and microwave techniques was investigated in the laboratory since 2013. The acoustic gas thermometry is based on the relationship between the speed of sound in gases and thermodynamic temperature. At present, NIM is making efforts to measure the thermodynamic temperature using cylindrical acoustic gas thermometry from 250 K to 1358 K. We independently designed the high temperature acoustic and microwave transducers for the thermodynamic temperature measurement in a wide range. The objective of these research is to contribute new (T-T90) results with low uncertainty and also to provide temperature measurement solutions in harsh environment where traditional temperature sensors fail.
