On May 31, Fang Xiang, Director of NIM and Zhang Jie, Director of Qingdao Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, signed a cooperation agreement to jointly establish the "Application Center (Qingdao) of the National Time and Frequency Metrology Center" in Qingdao city of Shandong province. Wang Jiaxin, Deputy Mayor of Qingdao, Fang Xiang, and Zhang Jie jointly unveiled a plaque for the Application Center.
Relying on the National Time and Frequency Metrology Center and the Qingdao Institute of Measurement Technology, the Application Center, directly linked with the national time scale primary standard, can provide a reliable guarantee for the traceability and measurement of time and frequency in Qingdao in the fields of local transportation, communication, power, financial trade, medical health, cloud computing and big data centers.
After the signing and opening ceremony, Fang Xiang delivered a keynote speech titled "Measuring the Future - Quantization Evolution of the International System of Units (SI)". Over 200 people, including leaders of the Qingdao Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, members of affiliated institutions, and people from enterprises and universities in Qingdao, attended this event.
